Happy 1st Anniversary

WOW!
My blog is now 1 year old! Happy "Birthday" to leongmichelle.blogspot.com.

Last week, I participated a blogging contest that organized by SSH 10th Anniversary Celebration Event. There were 10 different theme booths which resembles 10 different courses of School Of Social Science and Humanities. This blogging contest was organized by one of the booths- Tourism booth. Contestants were required to nominate a blog post that blogs about traveling experience in Malaysia.

I took one of my posts- <A great start of backpack traveling> and participated this contest. At last, my blog was nominated in Top 10. I was freaking shocked when I knew that! Therefore I was thinking, how could my post being nominated? So I asked the person in charge about how many contestants were there and she hesitatingly told me that there were more than ten. (Indeed, if I already knew there were more than ten, do I still have to ask you? I wanted to know the exact number la...=.=)

OK, now i know, perhaps the Top 10 were just THE ONLY TEN people who participated the contest. Hahaha... What so ever... I didn't expect that my blog could actually be proud of certain contest and get some good prizes.

Show you what I've got from the contest...

A 2GB thumb-drive from Canon (I hung it with a key chain that I brought back from Madame Tussauds Hong Kong) and

A pair of cute piggy mugs.

Since it's my blog's "birthday" today, I'll make these as the presents for my blog then! Hahaha...
Oh ya, almost forgot about the winner! The winner is Arwen! The lovely girl whom I travelled with to KL in that post! She's a good photographer and she won the place by a nice post, click here to read more! She had the same prizes as mine but she also won a CANON camera bag for the winner's prize! Feel happy for her, she really deserves that! =) Hopefully she'll own a camera one day soon!

Today is Dong Zhi Festival, time to eat some self-made Tang Yuan! Happy Dong Zhi Festival!

Hong Kong 5-day trip (PART 5- final)

[5th day] 23rd Nov 2009, Monday

(LAST DAY) Sha Tin - HK Airport - KLIA

WOW! Finally, my posts about five-day in trip Hong Kong is finally over, and this will be the last post about my Honkee trip. Feel quite unwilling to leave Hong Kong, but I believe, I'll go there again one day, and enjoy and take my time all by myself.

8.30am- We had our breakfast nearby also, but this time, we tried at another restaurant (as I told you, there were many shops and restaurants were just adjacent to our hotel. Most of the food was nice, price was sort of reasonable.

I had a very nice breakfast on the last day which was Wanton Noodle. I found that the wanton noodle that made in Hong Kong was more springy and tastier compared to ours. You will be shocked because their wantons were as big as Ping Pong balls because the filling include the whole piece of shrimp and some minced pork! Unfortunately, I don't eat shrimps, so I couldn't taste the delicacy of the taste, but I still love their wanton noodle.

I must share one funny thing here. Listen up, when you are in Hong Kong and ready to order a bowl of wanton noodle, please remember to 'remind' the seller that you want to add wanton, or else, they will serve you a bowl of wanton noodle without any wantons as they will really serve you the 'noodle of wanton'! Cool huh? =)

There was a very cute boy at the restaurant, he's the son of the restaurant owner. Look the way he held the bun, and he smiled and laughed puerilely whenever we asked him:"Does it taste nice?"..

He's so cute and adorable, isn't he?

12.45pm- Started off our journey to Hong Kong International Airport from hotel and boarded at 3.30pm. We waited for quite a long while at the airport after checking in.

Someone fell asleep like her,

someone ate non-stop like him,

and someone day-dreamed like me...

I was quite excited while going back because I could watch the latest Harry Potter movie but it dissapointed me...=.= Luckily I didn't watch at cinema nor buy a DVD.

These were still within Hong Kong, cloudy...

Arrived in Malaysia, greeny...

OK, that's all for my posts about Hong Kong 5-day trip! What a nice trip, even though it was quite rushed! No matter how, I still appreciate it! It'll be one of my most memorable happy travelling moments! So how do you find my travelling posts? Do give some comments for improvement! ^^

Goodbye Hong Kong!

Hong Kong 5-day trip (PART 4)

[4th day] 22nd Nov 2009, Sunday

Sha Tin - Ocean Park

Today was our free-traveling day apart from the tour teams. So me and my family planned to go Ocean Park which was far far away from our hotel's location (Sha Tin). We asked the people around when we got the chance such as eating supper yesterday. Thanked to those friendly people who helped and gave directions!

8.00am- Before heading to Ocean Park by taking a bus at a bus stop near from our hotel, we had have a nice breakfast nearby too!

My favourite- "Polo Pao", known as pineapple bun but actually this is a butter bun with no single piece of pineapple, it is known as pineapple bun because its shape looks like pineapple skin.

9.00am- We took a public bus to go Ocean Park. A bus ticket is charged HK$ 16 (RM 8) a person to Ocean Park directly, and I think the price is very reasonable and we only waited 15 mins for the bus.

10.00am- The journey to Ocean Park from Sha Tin only took us 45 mins. Quite fast I can say. You will not get bored in the bus, because you can get to see a lot of interesting TV commercials in the bus. Some of their commercials are interesting and well-delivered, and you can see a lot of well-known Hong Kong celebrities!

Ocean Park is a very nice place, it's one of the must-visit theme parks in the world! It's located on hills and it's larger than Disneyland, and you have to walk more of course! Besides Hong Kong Disneyland, I really recommend you to go Ocean Park when you visit Hong Kong. And you know what? my brother loves Ocean Park so much, more than I love Disneyland!

7.00pm- It's time to go back. Ocean Park is closed at 6pm. All of us were too tired to walk to a bus station that was quite far away from the entrance of Ocean Park. So we decided to take a public cab. But still, we waited half an hour! Fortunately, their cabs were quite a lot, so half an hour was considered quick for a long queue.

The most intersting part of today was, when we got into a cab and requested the driver to send us to a shopping complex that was adjacent to our hotel at Sha Tin. The driver told us that he didn't know how to go to that shopping complex but he knew how to go to Sha Tin and asked us to show him the way to shopping complex when we reached at Sha Tin. We were so shocked by his sayings! Then I asked the driver how about the hotel we stayed and he knew the location of our hotel. What a funny taxi driver!

The driver told us that he was a part-timer, and some more he was staying very far away from the place he worked, so he didn't really know the road in Sha Tin but he knew about the hotel because we went before. So we changed our plan. We went back to our hotel and took our dinner before going to the shopping complex by another taxi.

He was a very kind and talkative person and we had a long nice chat with him! He also recommend us to eat the famous food of Sha Tin- Sha tin roasted pigeons, and the restaurant was just nearby our hotel.

8.30pm- Then we really tried this for our dinner! Emm.. the meat was just like duck's meat, but it tasted oilier. This time, we spent the most for our food. Because, we didn't check the price properly. My brother thought the claypot of porridge was HK$18, as it wasn't! It was HK$88! Why? Because it was Abalone Chicken porridge...wth..

After dinner, we tried their waffles and fried squid balls. Woo..so full!

Tomorrow would be the last day of our trip... And the post will be quite short. Stay tune!
